In Dumka and across Jharkhand, private local buses run on routes everyone knows by word-of-mouth — but nobody ever put it online. You either knew someone who knew the timing, or you waited at the stand and hoped.
JoharBus is building that missing record, one verified route at a time. We started here in Dumka. The goal is to grow this into a route-by-route record for every local bus corridor in Jharkhand, and beyond, as more commuters join in.

What is JoharBus?

Is "JoharBus" the same as "Johar Bus"?
Yes. JoharBus and Johar Bus refer to the exact same app. Some people search it as one word, others as two — both lead to this same product, built by JoharLabs in Dumka, Jharkhand.
What does "Johar" mean in JoharBus?
"Johar" is a traditional Santhali greeting used across Jharkhand. The app's name combines this regional greeting with "Bus" to reflect its roots in Jharkhand's local bus network. JoharBus is not related to any other unrelated service or business that happens to use the word "Johar."
Is JoharBus a government app?
No. JoharBus is an independent app built by a private developer in Dumka, Jharkhand. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing any government transport authority.
Where is JoharBus available right now?
JoharBus currently focuses on Dumka and the Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand. Coverage is expanding as more commuters submit and verify routes in new areas.
Is JoharBus available outside Jharkhand?
Anyone in India can submit their local bus routes through the app, but verified data today is concentrated in Jharkhand. The app is built to grow beyond Jharkhand over time as more commuters contribute.

Do I need to log in to search bus timings?
No login is required to search for routes or view bus timings. You only interact with an account-style flow if you choose to submit a new route.
How does JoharBus get its bus timing data?
Bus timings are submitted and verified by local commuters who actually travel these routes. Routes are clearly marked as "Verified" or "Community Submitted" so you always know how reliable the information is.
What does "Verified Route" mean in the app?
A Verified Route has been confirmed as accurate, either by the JoharBus team directly or through community confirmation from multiple commuters who travel that route.
What does "Community Submitted" mean?
It means a route was added by a user but hasn't been independently confirmed yet. The app shows this status clearly so you can decide how much to rely on it before it's verified.
How do I add a bus route that's missing?
Open the app, tap "Suggest a Bus Route," and fill in the bus name, origin, destination, timing, and stops. Your submission appears with an unverified badge until the community or team confirms it.
What if I find wrong information in the app?
You can report it directly from the route card using the "Report" option. This flags the route for review so it can be corrected.
Does JoharBus work without internet?
Routes you've previously loaded are available offline, so you're not left stranded without a connection. A new search still requires internet access.
Can I book bus tickets through JoharBus?
Not yet. JoharBus currently functions as a bus timing and route directory, not a ticket booking platform. Ticket booking is a planned future feature, not something available today.
How is JoharBus different from RedBus or AbhiBus?
RedBus and AbhiBus focus on intercity AC and sleeper buses. JoharBus focuses specifically on local private stage-carriage buses — the everyday routes within districts that those platforms don't cover.
